How to use #Hashtags

Hashtags work by connecting your content to a group of other related posts. So, if someone is scrolling #plussizefashion and you have a plus-size boutique, this could be a way for potential clients to see your post and become familiar with your business. This can work for anything from #plumbers to #bobatea. Because more people are seeing your content easier, your entire account can be boosted due to increased engagement.

Here are some ways to get the most out of your hashtags:

  1. Keep it short and simple: One to three words is enough for a hashtag. Since your goal is to use the same ones other people have used, using somewhat generic terms is best.

  2. Don’t be too niche: Using a business-specific hashtag can be great for people to connect with your business in their own posts, but if upping engagement is your goal it’s best to use hashtags that are easy to find.

  3. Only use relevant hashtags: Putting #restaurant on your post for an electrician service doesn’t make much sense. If you want your hashtags to generate qualified leads, use ones that pertain to your business.
